The collaborative project, from the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation, Mural Arts Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation, includes murals inside and outside the Crane building along the theme of “The Past Supporting the Future.”Cai, who also painted the plaza at 10th and Vine, said “To me, it’s more like a dream come true project.”Cai expects the mural to become a new landmark for Chinatown as its on one of the only tall buildings in the area. It can be seen from the Vine Street Expressway and blocks away.

He said that he is motivated by his Christianity to “to lift people’s spirit during the holiday season.” It takes him about a month to get all of the decorations up, some of which are handmade from household items like clothes hangers.Every night he troubleshoots, identifying lights that have gone out and making adjustments.Seunarine’s display started small and has grown every year since. “If there’s a small desire in your heart, don’t discard it,” he said. “You never know how it could be develop.”
